Biography

Amanda is specifically interested in how structural factors influence disparities in mental healthcare, access, and outcomes; as well as the design and implementation of equitable community health interventions. Amanda has a BS in Biology from Gonzaga University, an MS in Epidemiology, and is a second year PhD student at the University of Iowa. For the PRC, Amanda works with Dr. Rima Afifi to conduct and analyze research related to a variety of community projects and assessments. Projects include an environmental scan of Community Health workers, programmatic analysis of Muscatine county’s Fueling the Future, and a community assessment for Monsoon.

I believe in the PRCs commitment to amplifying community voices- community centered practices are critical to supporting self-determination and pursuing research aligned with community priorities.
