Cathleen Zbylut

3rd Year Undergraduate Student, Public Health
Biography

I am specifically interested in researching health promotion methods that apply physical activity, nutrition and food insecurity, and mental health interventions, and how these methods contribute to disease prevention.

For the PRC, I work with Dr. Natoshia Askelson as an undergraduate research assistant. I have had the opportunity to work on the development and delivery of surveys, interviews, and focus groups, along with data coding and analysis. I have been able to work with projects focused on food insecurity around Iowa, COVID-19 vaccination confidence in health care providers, and health equity in micropolitan communities, along with research with Active Iowa.

Please comment on what one of the PRC-RH values means to you.

The PRC value of amplifying community voice has been meaningful to me in learning about micropolitan communities. It is important to me that micropolitan communities are given the proper representation and resources to have sufficient opportunities to make healthy choices.
